Get 1-to-1 Private Yoga Sessions and Yoga Therapy

Private yoga and Yoga Therapy sessions are a really great way to ensure that your individual needs are being met. With personalised instruction based on your health, body type and lifestyle, each session will be crafted specifically for you.

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy is the adaptation of Yoga techniques to empower individuals to support their own personal health goals in a safe and guided environment. You will receive personalised lifestyle guidance to support positive change on and off the mat.

Clients will gain tools to support their personal health goals and will proactively make positive changes towards healthy living.

Private sessions would be perfect for those of you who:

  • Want one to one guidance, mentoring and support from an experienced yoga teacher.

  • Have a busy schedule and find it difficult to get to a scheduled group class.

  • Are nervous about attending a group class, preferring a gentle more personal introduction to yoga, being able to work at your own pace.

  • Want to learn how to modify a practice while healing from injury or an illness.

  • Want to learn therapeutic techniques to manage and heal from health issues such as back pain, insomnia, depression, and anxiety. Yoga Therapy can also be a great compliment to addiction recovery.

  • Want to start or Deepen a meditation practice.

  • Want to learn various styles of pranayama to increase breath control and lung capacity and aid in calming the mind.

  • Would like a designed practice to benefit a sport or profession outside of the studio, such as triathlon training, improving your golf swing, or if you are a touring musician.

  • Would like special attention to master challenging poses such as headstand or perfect a form in a fundamental pose like Chaturanga Dandasana

  • Want to work more intensely and dynamically on your practice with more attention to detail.

  • Would like to explore yogic philosophy and how to implement them in your daily life to affect positive change.

  • Would like support with developing discipline with a regular and consistent practice.

  • Practicing in a group environment can be energising and inspiring, but a group setting may not always suit all people’s schedules or needs. At these times we may need a bit more one to one attention to get the most out of our practice, while receiving support to affect consistent positive changes in your daily life.

our method

Here are our five strong convictions when teaching this beautiful practice at the Yoga Room.

1. Block of classes

The Yoga Room offers blocks of classes, to encourage you to attend class on a regular basis. This commitment is essential when practicing yoga, to build strength and understanding of the practice. ‘Drop in’ classes do not provide the same consistency, limiting one’s progress and putting one more at risk of injury. Regular attendance also provides an opportunity for myself to get to know you and taylor the practice to meet your specific needs. *Note: If due to sickness or other circumstances classes are missed, you can make them up within a term

2. Beginners Courses

At the Yoga Room our approach with beginners is to start at the very beginning. We focus initially on the breath, and slowly build the class week by week. It’s crucial to build a solid foundation to keep each practitioner safe on the mat avoiding injury. There are gyms and yoga centres who offer ‘open classes’ for beginners to advanced students. This can be a dangerous way to teach as people can be injured attempting to keep up with more advanced practitioners, as well as struggling with postures that they are not quite ready for.

3. Small classes

At the Yoga Room we keep our classes small, in order to be able to give everyone equal attention and to make sure all students are safely getting in and out of postures correctly. One of my favourite aspects of teaching is getting to know the needs of each student, enabling me to be able to adjust each individual and provide modifications to allow the student to either access or go deeper into each posture. This extra time with students provides a more personable class, allowing time to ask questions, and develop and deeper connection with the teacher.

4. Relax!

We love to have a laugh and I maintain a good sense of humour when teaching. It’s so important to not take the learning and the practice of yoga too seriously, enjoy the journey! We can be so hard on ourselves. I frequently remind students that the most import part of the practice is the breath. The yoga is here to support us. If we can maintain this sense of lightness of heart, and easy does it attitude on the mat, we are more likely to progress more safely and have a long and enjoyable yoga practice that lasts a lifetime! This is my hope for you!

5. Community

What I love about the Yoga Room is the friendly nature of the students. Individuals welcome each other to class, and encourage and support new students. There is a real sense of support and a kindness that runs through all classes. People feel included, even with little or no chat.
